What is The Christian Diary?
The Christian Diary is an online searchable database of events.
Which may be of interest to Christians as well as those organised by individuals, churches or groups that work with, and for, churches of the many different denominations.
Our purpose is to promote the many great events that are taking place, but do not sometimes get the support they deserve, because they are often not known about and/or publicized as widely as they deserve. We want to change that with www.christiandiary.com.
We like to include events as early as possible (even before all details are available) to help other event organisers to avoid unnecessary clashes of dates and for the wider Christian community to organise their schedules to allow attendance/support.
We hope to accomplish this by providing timely, accurate information about:
• What’s happening?
• When is it happening?
• Where you can find out more?
If you are organising an event please register as an Event Promoter, then send us the details so we can ensure it is included. Once you are registered you can either enter them directly on this website using the online form or contact one of our Editors/Reports who will compile the details and enter it for you.
Please note: submission of an event does not guarantee inclusion in the database. We reserve the right to decline to publish any submitted event.
Content maintenance is through the efforts of a network of volunteers and also the Vine Conference Centre.
A bit of background about how we began
The Christian Diary is a relaunched version of The Aberdeen Christian Diary with a new title.
Aberdeen Christian Diary (AbCD), began as a website in 1998 from a number of different sources and willing volunteers who had the vision to see that what the Christian Community in Aberdeen and the surrounding areas needed was not more events to attend but fewer that were of a higher quality, more widely known and better supported.
Early in 1999 a few tentative four page A5 leaflets were produced. These were edited versions of the contents of the AbCD website and soon become a regular monthly leaflet. With sponsorship from Grampian Evangelical Fellowship (GEF) the leaflet was mailed to all known GEF contacts and members of the Evangelical Alliance and GEF, churches and individuals in the Grampian area. At the same time a monthly email began to be produced, like the website, this contained the complete list of forthcoming events known in the area.
Following funding and technical support provided through The Aberdeen Passion, the diary became part of the Small Wooden Platform network and is being relaunched as the Christian Diary in March 2016.
The Christian Diary website is now managed and run by the Vine Conference Centre.
